Ressence Type 10 DN Dark Night ships in November with its own engine

The Ressence Type 10 DN is due to reach buyers this month, and it is the first Ressence to pair an oil-filled display with the brand’s own movement. Ressence unveiled the Dark Night edition on October 16 at WatchTime New York 2026. The name refers to a deep blue shared by the case, dial, and rubber strap. It is limited to 100 pieces, and availability starts in November through selected Ressence retailers.
Movement matters
Until now, every oil-filled Ressence has run on a modified ETA movement. The RW-04 automatic caliber changes that. Ressence designed it in-house and produced it with Swiss specialist Concepto, building on the RW-01 that debuted in the Type 11 in April. Two barrels deliver a 60-hour power reserve, up from 36 hours in earlier oil-filled models, and the caliber beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz). Its 252 components are part of 538 in the whole watch.
How the oil display works
The watch uses two sealed chambers. The patented ROCS 10 (Ressence Orbital Convex System) display module sits in oil in the upper chamber, while the RW-04 runs in air below. Micro-magnets on a disc driven by the movement pull a matching disc in the oil through a thin titanium membrane, so nothing physically links the two sides.
An expansion membrane compensates for changes in oil volume, and 196 of the watch’s components sit inside the oil module. Rotating discs replace hands and show hours, minutes, a second time zone, and a 120-second runner. A color-coded indicator tracks the oil temperature and glows green around room temperature. There is no crown, so winding and time setting happen from the caseback.
Case, price, and what to check
The 41.5 mm case is polished grade 5 titanium with a dark blue DLC coating and an integrated rubber strap. A 24-segment titanium bezel alternates lume-filled sandblasted inserts with brushed sections. The watch weighs 82 grams, and water resistance is 50 meters (5 ATM).
Ressence priced the Type 10 DN at CHF 45,000, excluding taxes, roughly $54,000. With only 100 made, buyers should confirm stock with Ressence or an authorized retailer.
