Release date of Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold pushed back

Bad news for impatient fans: Square Enix has just confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold, the MMORPG's next major expansion, will arrive later than originally anticipated. Previously scheduled for January 2027, the sixth expansion has been pushed back to February 23, 2027. The revised date was announced during the latest Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Tokyo. Early access is scheduled to begin on February 19, four days before the official release, while pre-orders open on November 4.
Despite the delay, Square Enix has provided plenty of new information about the expansion. A new full-length trailer was recently unveiled alongside additional footage showcasing locations, dungeons and upcoming content. The publisher also revealed Zephyr, the second new job coming to Evercold. The ranged fighter combines crossbow attacks with assistance from an avian companion named Nephele. Zephyr joins Bastion, the previously announced tank-focused job, expanding the available options for players.
Evercold will also introduce new areas, new content (such as raids) and an increased level cap, building on the MMORPG's established expansion formula. Furthermore, Square Enix also revealed that Final Fantasy XIV has surpassed 35 million registered accounts worldwide, underlining the game's continued popularity since its relaunch as A Realm Reborn in 2013.
