Refreshed RedMagic gaming phone shines in PC gaming test with smooth AAA gameplay

ETA Prime has put the RedMagic 11 Pro Golden Saga Edition to the test by running PC games on it via emulation. This gaming phone is basically a souped-up version of the regular one that was released recently, and its main highlight is the "gold-plated" vapor chambers and gold- and silver-composite air ducts.
These changes over the regular version are said to improve cooling, which, paired with the active cooler, makes it a very capable gaming device. The RedMagic 11 Pro Golden Saga Edition also comes with 24 GB of LPDDR5T RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage. This memory and storage config matches what many gaming handhelds offer.
Speaking of which, ETA Prime has essentially tested how the phone compares with a gaming handheld by running multiple AAA PC games on it. GameHub was used for the test, which is a Windows game emulator.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was the first game tested, and the RedMagic gaming phone could run it at an average of over 40 FPS. The resolution was set to 720p, and the visual settings were mostly at "low." It's worth noting that during this test, the device was using around 20 GB of RAM, making it pretty apparent that higher memory configurations are worth it for such setups.
Project Cars 2 also ran well on the gaming phone. At the medium visual preset and 720p resolution, the game was hovering at around 60 FPS during the session. The device handled Resident Evil Requiem smoothly as well, but there were some visual issues, which are likely caused by the driver. These glitches tend to get fixed with updates.
GTA 5 and Cyberpunk 2077 also ran well on the RedMagic 11 Pro Golden Saga
The YouTuber has also tested Grand Theft Auto 5 on the RedMagic 11 Pro Golden Saga Edition. ETA Prime didn't mention the visual settings used for this session, but it seems to be set at low, and the average was at mid-60 FPS. Cyberpunk 2077 ran with an average of over 60 FPS as well, but with FSR Frame Gen turned on.
On that note, not all the games tend to run with FSR on GameHub, but on some games, the upscaling and frame generation tech works well. Another thing to note is that during the sessions, the phone was pulling over 40 watts of power in some cases.
While the active cooling setup will compensate, such a power draw means that the device can heat up very quickly, and the battery will also drain fast (slim Baseus Picogo 5K power bank curr. $22.99 on Amazon). Check out the video below to learn more.
