With each new device, Xiaomi and its sub-brand Redmi are pushing the "bang for the buck" factor of their handsets higher, without resorting to radical cuts in terms of build quality. In many markets, the Redmi Note 7 and the more powerful — and more expensive, obviously — Redmi Note 7 Pro are currently some of the best choices in the mid-range sector. Now, India is receiving the Note 7 under a different name.
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, the Redmi Note 7S is apparently the same handset as the global variant of the Redmi Note 7. Its 6.3-inch full HD+ display comes with a waterdrop notch. With a 13 MP selfie shooter and a 48 + 5 MP main camera on the back, the Redmi Note 7S is an excellent budget solution for those into mobile photography.
In addition to the above, we should also mention USB Type-C connectivity and the 4,000 mAh battery with 18 W fast charging, the presence of the traditional 3.5 mm audio jack, the rear-mounted fingerprint reader, the IR blaster, and the water-resistant P2i coating. The handset runs Android 9.0 Pie-based firmware with MIUI 10 on top.
These are the prices of the two memory/storage combinations that will be available for purchase in India starting on May 23: INR₹10,999 (about US$158) for the 3/32 GB model and INR₹12,999 (roughly US$187) for the 4/64 GB variant. Those interested will be able to place their orders via Flipkart, Xiaomi's website, and various Mi retailers.
