Redditor finds GPU configuration for 28 Renoir SKUs in AMD's Bootcamp driver
New details about AMD's Renoir APU lineup were leaked by Reddit user _rogame. The information was apparently obtained by data mining AMD's Bootcamp driver. The leak details integrated GPU configurations for the entire range of Ryzen 4000 APUs.
Based on what we know from previous leaks and data dumps, AMD's 4th generation Ryzen APUs will utilize 7nm Zen 2 cores, meaning a big IPC uplift over Picasso's Zen+ cores. Since Renoir will be fabbed on the 7nm processor node, we expect higher CPU and GPU clock speeds.Together with integrated Vega graphics that top out in a 13 CU configuration, we expect much better CPU performance and improved graphics capabilities.
From the current leak, we understand that there may be as many as 28 Renoir SKUs. 14 laptop parts were described, split into eight 15W SKUs and six 45W SKUs. The 14 desktop SKUs include six 65W parts and eight 35W SKUs. The leak indicates that desktop Renoir will be on the AM4+ socket. However, it might not be compatible with 300 and 400-series motherboards. Vendors might have to release BIOS updates at the very least.
Desktop Renoir APUs aren't likely to arrive soon though, considering that parts like the Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G continue to do well in the market.
It is possible that the 45W mobility parts will arrive sooner to take on Coffee Lake H, while the 15W parts take the competition to Intel's Comet Lake U and Ice Lake U SKUs.
