Red Dead Redemption 2 gets brand new Mexico expansion for free

Red Dead Redemption 2 has received a substantial new Mexico expansion, although it is not an official Rockstar Games release. Nuevo Paraíso - The Forgotten Frontier is a free fan-made mod created by NexusMods user Rixus724, bringing the previously inaccessible Mexican territory into the PC version of the game. The project adapts Nuevo Paraíso to Red Dead Redemption 2’s 1907 setting, drawing on locations from the original Red Dead Redemption.

The expansion adds three major regions: Diez Coronas, Perdido and Punta Orgullo, alongside restored settlements such as Escalera, Chuparosa, Casa Madrugada and Las Hermanas. The mod also introduces new wildlife and vegetation, while a railway connects Nuevo Paraíso with New Austin. Activities include treasure hunts, bounty hunting, smuggling, train robberies, fort defence, taxi and stable jobs, alongside gang hideouts, vendors and Easter eggs.

Despite its scope, the release is not entirely polished. Players have reported bugs and glitches, with Rixus724 continuing to address technical issues based on feedback. Nevertheless, the project has attracted strong praise from players impressed by its scale and apparent faithfulness to Red Dead Redemption 2. Nuevo Paraíso - The Forgotten Frontier is available for free via NexusMods and exclusive to PC, making it an unofficial but sizeable way to expand the game’s single-player world.
