The new Razer Reclusa X Mini 65% costs just $49.99, yet it features a hot-swappable PCB, per-key RGB lighting, and competitive gaming features such as Razer Snap Tap and Snap Flex. However, Razer has made a few compromises to hit the low price, including wired-only connectivity.

Razer has launched the Reclusa X Mini 65, a new mechanical gaming keyboard priced at just $49.99. It is considerably cheaper than recent models such as the Huntsman V3 Pro (curr: $229.99 at Razer), although the lower price comes with a few compromises.

As its name suggests, the Reclusa X Mini 65 has a compact 65% form factor with 68 keys. It ships with factory-lubricated Razer Orange Tactile Mechanical Switches (Gen 3), but the hot-swappable PCB accepts most standard 3-pin and 5-pin switches, including Razer's Green Clicky and Yellow Linear options.

Under the hood, Razer uses a fairly basic construction with a tray-mounted design and only two layers of silicone dampening. The latter should help reduce hollow case noise, although the sound may not be as refined as on more expensive keyboards with more elaborate dampening. Moreover, Razer went with double-shot ABS rather than PBT keycaps. However, it has a unique tri-tone design as well as south-facing LEDs, which provide broader compatibility with aftermarket keycaps.

The gaming features are where the Reclusa X Mini 65% has an advantage over many other budget mechanical keyboards. It supports Razer Snap Tap, Snap Flex, and Dual-Keypress Priority for more control over simultaneous and rapid inputs. However, the wired connection tops out at a standard 1,000 Hz polling rate rather than the 8,000 Hz available on Razer's pricier models.
