A convenient roundup chart of the many leaks and rumors about the upcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series and AMD Radeon RX 7000 series has been put together along with some positive price speculation. A couple of specs highlights include a possible 800 W TDP for the RTX 4090 Ti and an astonishing 384 MB cache for a so-called RX 7970 XT3D graphics card.

The tech commenter and tipster Kepler has compiled a comprehensive chart of both the next-generation families of graphics cards coming from Nvidia (Team Green) and AMD (Team Red). The chart, which is posted below, has been filled in using specs about the GeForce RTX 40 series and Radeon RX 7000 series that have been provided by well-known leakers such as kopite7kimi, Greymon55, and RedGamingTech. Kepler actually created a similar chart back in early July, but there has been a flood of leaks since then in regard to the next-generation GPUs.

It's important to remind that the price tags are “very speculative”, and they are also somewhat promising, especially in regard to the possible amounts required to snag a GeForce RTX 40-series card. An RTX 4060 is given a tentative price tag of US$379 while the RTX 4090 sits at US$1,499 and the RTX 4090 Ti (with its massive 800 W TDP) is linked to US$1,999. Those latter two prices mirror the launch MSRPs for the RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti, respectively, while the RTX 3060 cost from US$329. It’s a plausible strategy, as pricing a graphics card at over US$2,000 would attract some harsh news headlines for Nvidia (despite it being only a matter of time before this happens).

Topping the list for Team Red in the specs chart, filled with information that we have reported on frequently, is a graphics card that has been dubbed “RX 7970 XT3D” in this case. Kepler reckons this beast will not only rock 384 MB cache thanks to its 3D V-cache build (4090 Ti: maybe 96 MB), but it will also do so at a comparably much lower power requirement of 450 W. A predicted price of US$1,499 is given for this Navi 31-powered brute, while the expected Radeon RX 7950 XT is given an estimate of US$1,199, which is only US$100 higher than the price that AMD attached to the previous-generation Radeon RX 6950 XT (US$1,099).

Obviously, the data in the chart below is based on leaks and rumors, hence the presence of numerous question marks, so it should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, placing all the information together in this format does reveal what an exciting contest RTX 40 vs. RX 7000 is going to be. Both GPU families potentially offer up to 3.0 GHz clocks (and above in Team Red’s case) and VRAM counts get hefty boosts: AMD’s maximum memory goes from 16 GB for the RX 6000 series to possibly 24 GB for RX 7000, while Team Green seemingly focuses on beefing up its mid-to-high-end parts, with the 4070 Ti and 4080 Ti hitting alleged counts of 16 GB and 20 GB, respectively.
