Poseidon M20: 120-watt soundbar with subwoofer launches for $84

The manufacturer Ultimea may no longer be entirely unknown, and we have already been able to test a pretty bass-heavy sound system from this exact brand. With the Poseidon M20, the company is now offering a new soundbar that’s already listed on Banggood for $83. We cannot attest to the audio quality of this new soundbar, but it probably sounds better than most integrated TV speakers. Especially on cheap television sets, manufacturers often cut some costs and large drivers are difficult to integrate into slim TVs anyhow. That being said, audiophiles are not exactly the target group of the Poseidon M20.

Either way, the Ultimea Poseidon M20 has an advertised power output of 120 watts. As usual, the manufacturer is referring to the peak output here. It is a 2.1-channel setup, so two drivers and a 3-inch subwoofer are on board, but prospective buyers should not expect thundering bass from this audio system. That said, the soundbar measures 15.7 x 4.2 x 2.6 inches and should be fairly easy to place in front of more compact TVs. It’s suitable for smaller rooms or short viewing distances, but it might also fit on certain desks.

There is one notable limitation in terms of connectivity, since the soundbar cannot be hooked up via HDMI (eARC). Instead, there is a 3.5mm jack and an optical input, which should generally allow the soundbar to be connected to most devices. Bluetooth 5.4 is also supported for streaming music from a smartphone or tablet. Ultimea further offers an accompanying smartphone app, which can customize the equalizer, among other things. Lastly, a remote control is included in the box.
