Polaroid and The Pokémon Company have announced a nine piece limited edition collection for the 30th anniversary of Pokémon. The range covers three cameras, three film packs and three accessories. Polaroid and The Pokémon Company have announced a limited edition collection of instant cameras, film and accessories to mark the 30th anniversary of Pokémon. The line runs to nine pieces built around the Poké Ball, Pikachu and Sylveon.

Pre-orders open on August 25 at polaroid.com and at Pokémon Center in the US, the UK, and Canada. The full release follows on October 5. Polaroid will make the collection in limited quantities.

The Now Gen 3 in Poké Ball colours costs $139.99, while the Go Gen 3 in Pikachu and Sylveon designs costs $99.99 each.

The Polaroid Now Camera Gen 3 carries the red, white, and black of a standard Poké Ball and takes full size i-Type film. The two smaller cameras are versions of the Polaroid Go Camera Gene 3, one finished in Pikachu yellow and the other in Sylveon's pink, white, and blue.

The hardware is unchanged. All three are existing Polaroid models in new designs, so buyers get the same optics, flash, and film handling as the standard Now Gen 3 and Go Gen 3.

Polaroid is also selling Pokémon film for both formats, with character artwork printed around the frame rather than only on the camera body. The accessory line covers a Go camera case, a Go photo album, and a camera strap that works with both camera sizes.

The collaboration comes at a time when there's a sustained revival in film and instant photography, driven largely by younger buyers who have also pushed demand for point and shoot digital cameras, CRT televisions, and basic phones. Instant cameras sell a physical print, which is the part a smartphone cannot match.

Polaroid has run licensed editions before, including a Mickey Mouse version of the 600 priced at $199.99 in 2018. Fujifilm also ran its own Pokémon collaboration five years ago around an Instax Mini Link printer.

Pre-orders open on August 25 at polaroid.com and Pokémon Center in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Full release follows on October 5.
