GeForce Now finally supports the Firefox browser

After a long wait, Mozilla Firefox has finally been added to GeForce Now’s list of supported browsers. GeForce Now users are no longer limited to Chromium-based browsers and can now launch games in Firefox at resolutions of up to 1440p and 120 frames per second.
Until now, Mozilla’s Firefox browser was considered an “unsupported browser” for the GeForce Now game streaming service. The service would still work to some extent, but there were several limitations.
Displaying a warning was probably the least of the unsupported browser’s problems. For example, a Firefox bug caused mouse movements in streamed games to not work properly—a game-breaking issue for affected gamers. Poor streaming quality and missing codecs were other problems. As a result, players were largely limited to Chromium-based browsers.
That should now be a thing of the past, at least for the most part, as Nvidia is officially adding the browser to its list of supported platforms. From now on, cloud gaming is also available in Firefox at resolutions of up to 1440p and 120 frames per second.
This is the result of months of collaboration between Nvidia and Mozilla. The browser is likely to have benefited more generally as well, particularly when it comes to hardware acceleration and video decoding, which have not always worked smoothly in the Firefox browser.
You can get started right away by downloading and installing the latest Firefox version, 154.0, from Mozilla here. More information and the latest updates from the cloud gaming provider are available on the Nvidia Blog.
The developers are also planning a small redesign for Firefox in the near future. Anyone who wants to get an early look at the new design can install the Nightly version, which already offers a preview of upcoming developments.
