Designed with developers in mind, the PocketBeagle 2 is a new single-board computer featuring an ARM-based SoC, a USB-C port, and a particularly compact and lightweight body.

The PocketBeagle 2 is a developer-focused single-board computer (SBC) that falls into the same category as the Raspberry Pi 5 (about $70 on Amazon). However, the PocketBeagle 2 is significantly smaller and less performant, making it ideal for users who don't need to run a fully fledged desktop operating system. It also features much fewer external I/Os and completely omits interfaces such as HDMI ports. Inside the PocketBeagle 2 is a Texas Instruments AM6232 SoC with two ARM Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 1 GHz and a Cortex-M4F MCU at up to 400 MHz, which is useful for real-time applications.

Measuring a compact 55 x 35 mm (2.17 x 1.38 in), the PocketBeagle 2 can be powered either by a battery, or via its USB-C port or a 5-watt header on the board. Besides a microSD card slot, it boasts 72 expansion pins for connecting peripherals (e.g. sensors and actuators) or even expansion boards, potentially enabling the SBC to control smart homes, though it lacks wireless connectivity options such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The PocketBeagle 2 development SBC is currently available from Mouser Electronics for around $28, and the official website provides comprehensive documentation to help you get started quickly.
