The Raspberry Pi 500 is just over a month old, having been presented at the back end of last year. Since then, Raspberry Pi introduced a more powerful version of the Raspberry Pi 5 (curr. $69.99 on Amazon) that had leaked a few days beforehand.
For some reason, Raspberry Pi has returned to the Pi 500, which it now also sells as the Raspberry Pi 500 Desktop Kit. Also known as the Computer Kit or Desktop Computer Kit, the new SKU contains the same underlying single-board computer (SBC) that debuted in December. As such, the Desktop Kit ships with a Broadcom BCM2712 chipset and 8 GB of LPDDR4X-4267 RAM within a 286 x 122 x 23 mm housing.
However, the Desktop Kit includes a 32 GB microSD card, 27 W power supply, Raspberry Pi Beginner's Guide, a wired mouse and an HDMI cable. As a result, the new SKU retails for $30 more than the standard Raspberry Pi 500 at $120. Please see Raspberry Pi's website for more information and local availability.
