The Pixel 9 Pro XL is rated to stay up to date for seven years - however, that level of software support only means so much if the brand-new Android smartphone's hardware can't last the course. The popular vlogger JerryRigEverything set out to find out if the new Google flagship can hold up to at least 1 solid day of durability testing.

The Pixel 7a is a budget iteration of its series, yet was awarded the title of JerryRigEverything's Most Durable Smartphone of 2023. Now, it is time to see if one of its many direct successors can inherit its crown for 2024.

The 9 Pro XL, currently starting at $1,099 on Amazon, could be said to be the most iPhone-like Google flagship smartphone thus far; nevertheless, the signature rear camera visor that gave the 7 Pro some problems in its own JerryRigEverything ordeal is still there.

The new XL's version is still one of its most prominent features, found to measure 6 stacked razor blades in height. However, it did not stop the Pixel 9-series flagship from storming to the end of the classic JerryRigEverything scratch, burn and bend tests without a significant crack or even 1 ominous creaking noise.

The XL managed all that despite having a frame made of 100% recycled aluminum rather than titanium - which is, moreover, actually thinner than that of the Pixel 8 Pro (or 7a) at just 8.5 millimeters (mm). All in all, it looks like the Pixel 9 Pro XL will be able to sustain its industry-leading 7-year life-cycle.
