Philips Evnia 27M2C5500W: Evnia 5000 series monitor launching soon with 1000R curvature and 240 Hz refresh rate
Philips has announced more information about the Evnia 27M2C5500W, a curved gaming monitor previewed in October with three other Evnia series monitors. While Philips remains slightly coy about the monitor's release date, it has now shared all technical specifications about the Evnia 27M2C5500W, as well as a lower launch price.
At the heart of the Evnia 27M2C5500W is a 27-inch VA panel with a 1000R curvature and a 2,560 x 1,440-pixel native resolution. According to Philips, the panel also delivers 1 ms GtG response times, 400 cd/m² peak brightness and a 3,000:1 typical contrast ratio. The Evnia 27M2C5500W is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified too, with 98.5% NTSC and 119% sRGB colour space coverages. Philips adds that the panel should come with <2 Delta E colour deviations (sRGB) and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology to minimise image tearing.
Arguably the most exciting aspect of the Evnia 27M2C5500W is its refresh rate that peaks at 240 Hz. Philips equips the monitor with DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 ports, which restricts its full refresh rate to DisplayPort 1.4 at full resolution. Alternatively, the Evnia 27M2C5500W can output at 2.5K and 144 Hz when connected to a device via one of its two HDMI 2.0 ports. Moreover, Philips has included a USB 3.2 Gen1 hub, an adjustable stand and VESA 100 x 100 mm mounting holes.
Philips will begin selling the Evnia 27M2C5500W by the end of this month for £429.99, £30 less than the company indicated in October. By contrast, Philips has priced the monitor at €459 in the Eurozone. The company has not revealed which retailers will carry the Evnia 27M2C5500W; more details about the monitor can be found on Philips' website.
