Path of Exile 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the ARPG giant Path of Exile, has been available in Early Access since December 6. Its dark atmosphere and demanding gameplay have struck a chord with players, earning it widespread acclaim on Steam. Currently, the monster-slaying adventure holds the top spot in the platform's sales charts.

On December 6, Grinding Gear Games (GGG) launched their latest creation, Path of Exile 2, into Early Access. A full 11 years after the debut of its predecessor, players can once again venture into the dark, perilous world of Wraeclast, battling towering bosses, relentless monster hordes and a host of magical threats. Following the underwhelming release of its competitor, Diablo 4, fans of the action RPG genre had been yearning for a standout title and the success of PoE 2 reflects this anticipation. Just three days after its launch, the game topped SteamDB's Popular Releases chart, peaking at 578,569 concurrent players and currently holds the title of best-selling game on Steam.

For the Early Access release, players can choose from six of the planned twelve classes and experience three of the six story chapters. True to the genre’s tradition, however, the heart of Path of Exile 2 lies in its endgame, which is fully included. The goal is to carve a path through swarms of monsters and formidable bosses, earning powerful gear to tackle ever-tougher challenges. Grinding Gear Games (GGG) aims to deliver long-lasting engagement by incorporating procedurally generated zones, ensuring that no two forests or caves are ever the same.

Early Access for a fee, later free-to-play

Like its predecessor, Path of Exile 2 will be free-to-play upon its full release. For those who don’t want to wait until 2025, three supporter packs are available, offering early access along with in-game currency equal to the pack's value. The entry-level pack, priced at $30 on Steam, provides 300 points, which can be spent in the in-game store on cosmetic items or upgrades like stash expansions. Path of Exile 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
