Panasonic Lumix FZ82D compact camera launches with 1,200 mm zoom lens
The Panasonic Lumix FZ82D is positioned as the successor to the Lumix FZ82. Many of the most important components remain unchanged from the previous model, as the FZ82D continues to combine an 18 MP CMOS sensor in 1/2.3 inch format with a zoom lens that reaches a 35 mm equivalent focal length of 20 - 1,200 mm and a maximum aperture of f/2.8 - f/5.9.
This means that the sensor is significantly smaller than on many current smartphones, but even with periscope telephoto cameras and digital zoom, 60x zoom cannot be acheived on smartphones without significant loss of quality. The camera also has image stabilization and can record up to ten photos per second in full quality or 4K videos at 30 frames per second.

Details here
Compared to the Lumix FZ82 from 2017, Panasonic is adding a USB-C port to ensure that the camera can still be sold in Europe even after the EU's USB-C obligation comes into force. The electronic viewfinder is larger and has a higher resolution of 2.36 million pixels, while the 3-inch touchscreen has been upgraded from 1.04 to 1.84 million pixels. A "Zoom Compose Assist" button zooms out briefly to make it easier for the user to find a subject. A macro mode makes it possible to photograph objects that are only 1 cm away from the lens.
Prices and availability
In the US, the camera is being offered as the Panasonic Lumix FZ80D for $479.99. Further details can be found on the official product page.
