Panasonic unveils Lumix ZS99 4K 20MP point-and-shoot camera with 30x optical zoom for travel bloggers
Panasonic has announced the Lumix ZS99 4K 20MP point and shoot camera, also known as the TZ99 outside America.
The Leica-designed lens has an optical zoom range from 24 mm to 720 mm, allowing travel bloggers to capture everything near and far with ease, including objects as close as 1.2 in. (3 cm). An optional tripod grip and 180-degree swiveling 3-inch LCD monitor coupled with 5-axis optical stabilization allows vloggers to create smooth video updates.
The camera uses a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor with 21.1 raw megapixels and 20.3 effective megapixels to take 20MP photos at up to 10 frames per second or record 4K 30P videos. 8MP photos can also be extracted from any frame of the 4K video. The camera can record high-speed 1,280 x 720 video at 120 fps. A unique focus select function allows photographers to refocus images after-the-fact.
The Lumix ZS99 measures 4.4 x 2.7 x 1.7 in. (112.0 × 67.8 × 43.1 mm) and weighs 9.9 oz. (280 g). The camera can take up to 380 pictures before requiring a recharge, which takes 190 minutes using the included charger. Photos can be sent wirelessly to smartphones by pressing a dedicated button over Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11n Wi-Fi connections.
The Panasonic Lumix ZS99 has an MSRP of $499.99 and will be available for purchase in silver or black from the Panasonic store on Amazon in February 2025. Readers wanting an even longer zoom range to shoot the moon can pick up the Panasonic Lumix FZ80D with 20mm to 1,200mm zoom lens.
