Panasonic unveils Lumix G97 20.3MP Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera with unlimited 4K 30P recording times
Panasonic has unveiled the Lumix G97 4K 20.3MP Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera for the American market.
The Lumix G97 utilizes a 20.3-megapixel CMOS sensor coupled with a 5-axis Dual I.S. that provides up to five-stops of stabilization for blur-free shots in low-light and long-zoom situations. The stabilization works with any mounted lens.
Users can view the live sensor image on a 1,840,000-dot LCD monitor that can flip out and rotate. A 2,360,000-dot OLED viewfinder can also be used in extremely bright environments. A Live View Composite feature allows the photographer to create multiple exposure effects, such as star trails during astrophotography, while preventing the overexposure of the final image. Images can be sent to smartphones over Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi connections.
Videographers can use the G97 to record 4K 30P videos of unlimited record length as long as there is sufficient storage space and power. The Micro Four Thirds sensor provides 12-stops of dynamic range when recording videos in the Panasonic V-Log L profile. Scenes can be slowed down 4x or sped up 8x when filming in FHD resolution for creative effect. A headphone jack and a microphone jack allow for audio monitoring using headphones and audio recording using external microphones.
The Lumix G97 is dust- and water-resistant, but not IP-rated. The camera can recharge the internal battery over USB-C. Further specifications have not yet been revealed.
