Oppo Watch S with 3,000-nit AMOLED, GPS and 5 ATM now available in more regions

Oppo introduced the Watch S last fall, and the wearable has now arrived in Europe. Oppo lists the watch for €259, and buyers can choose between the colors Phantom Black and Nebula Silver. The watch is currently listed in the brand’s Austrian online store and should arrive in other European countries shortly. Some third-party retailers are already carrying the Oppo Watch S as well.
Oppo is emphasizing the display, which is based on a 464 x 464 AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, which should help with readability in direct sunlight. As usual, this peak brightness is not available continuously but just for short bursts. An always-on feature is on board as well, but battery life will drop from seven days to four days as a result.
The smartwatch is about 0.35 inches thick and is partly made of stainless steel. Moreover, the Oppo Watch S is designed to provide additional workout data such as the swing speed when playing tennis. For jogging and running, Oppo offers a posture assessment, and the smartwatch is equipped with the usual GPS module.
According to Oppo, the watch can even estimate the lactate threshold, which can be useful for planning workouts. The Oppo Watch S is water-resistant up to 5 ATM, so it can be used for swimming. That said, it’s unclear if the advertised ECG feature is available worldwide, as Oppo doesn’t mention that particular feature on its product page, although it appears in some product pictures. Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume that this function is not usable on the European model variant.
