Oppo A3 officially announced for China
Mostly found on high-end models, the infamous iPhone X screen notch is already getting featured in more affordable smartphones like the new F7 or A3 from Oppo. While this choice is clearly related to what is currently trendy, the Oppo A3 thankfully also snagged some helpful features from the more expensive models, including pseudo facial recognition and AI-enhanced imagining effects.
Even though it is a mid-range model, the Oppo A3 comes with a 19:9 6.2-inch LCD screen capable of FHD+ resolutions. The octa-core SoC powering this device is a MediaTek Helio P60 clocked at 2 GHz, which also integrates a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The 4 GB of RAM might not be unheard of on a mid-range model, but the 128 GB storage is quite rare for these devices. As far as camera setups are concerned, the A3 only integrates a single 16 MP sensor on the back and an 8 MP one on the front.
Due to its large screen, the A3 weighs in at 0.33 lbs, but Oppo was kind enough to supply a 3,400 mAh battery. The back glass case features an interesting angular design and will be available in black, silver, pink and red. The phone will be running Android 8.1 out of the box, together with Oppo’s Color OS 5.0 launcher.
The Oppo A3 will be released in early May for ~US$332, but it is going to be available only in China for the time being.
