OnePlus has typically released two sets of phones yearly: a first set of flagships around April, then improved, incremental updates later around November. It appears, however, that the company may make some changes this year, with a new rumor placing doubt on the release of the OnePlus 9T.
Yes, according to new reports, OnePlus will not launch the OnePlus 9T this year. We assume that doesn't mean the company will not launch any devices in the OnePlus 9T series at all, so the OnePlus 9T Pro should still be on the cards. Likely, it's only the regular OnePlus 9T that has been canceled. It's important to reiterate that all of that is just an assumption at this point.
This move makes sense. For one, OnePlus had already taken to alternating its launch plans for the T-series. The OnePlus 7T Pro, for example, was never available in the US, while the company chose to forego launching the OnePlus 8T Pro entirely last year. Secondly, there's a chance that the company believes the recently released OnePlus Nord 2 to be too similar to what the OnePlus 9T could've been expected to be.
