Reviews for the OnePlus Nord 3
The OnePlus Nord 3 brings some much-needed pizzazz in the hotly contested sub-₹35,000 (sub-€500) Android smartphone market. While the Dimensity 9000-powered Nord 3 is a substantial upgrade over the Nord 2 in almost all aspects, the smartphone has several glaring shortcomings as well.

To sum up, the smartphone has a very attractive appearance, I especially like the narrow frame around the screen. I also really like the notification switch and the infrared remote. I can't quite convince myself of the arrangement of the buttons on both sides of the case, but the case itself looks nice. Unfortunately, the phone needs to be cleaned often because it collects fingerprints. I would also mention the lack of waterproofness and inductive charging as a disadvantage, but the advantages include fast charging and the included charger. As for the screen, it could be a little brighter on sunny days, but this is a rather subjective opinion. Demanding gamers may complain that the phone heats up a bit when playing for a long time and reduces performance, but on the other hand, it has plenty of power. Cameras are also quite good in my opinion. The interface is friendly and intuitive, without excessive frills. To sum up, it's a really strong smartphone that deserves your attention.

With the Nord 3, OnePlus continues to offer a lot of phone for those who feel that flagships cost too much. This is the most premium Nord yet though, and that means it’s not quite as good value as before.

Previous Nord phones were priced under 30K for the 128 GB storage variant, but a similar variant of the Nord 3 5G with 8 GB RAM will set you back by Rs 33,999. You will need to shell out Rs 37,999 for the 256 GB storage option that also offers double the RAM. While the price is fair for what it offers, it takes it closer to the OnePlus 11R, blurring the lines between the two. We appreciate the use of more powerful processing hardware, but we would have liked the price of the base variant to be a lot closer to 30K. Maybe going ahead, OnePlus can set a cap of Rs 30,000 and build the best phone they can in that budget; the base variant, we mean. Having said that, there’s a lot to like about the OnePlus Nord 3 5G starting with its lively display and sleek exterior.

The Nord 3 is one of the best mid-range packages you'll find today. OnePlus made wholesale changes to the hardware, and the Nord 3 has a larger screen that gets brighter, is much more powerful in daily use than its predecessors, takes better photos and videos in just about any scenario, and lasts longer. There isn't an area where you won't notice an improvement over the Nord 2T, and the best part is that you're not paying a hefty premium here. In short, the Nord 3 distils the essence of a mid-range phone, and it does so while looking good.

The OnePlus Nord used to be a no-brainer for anyone seeking a premium mid-segment device. The Nord 3 is rather different in terms of both price and performance, both of which bring it closer to being a budget flagship. It faces some very formidable competition, particularly from the likes of the iQOO Neo 7 Pro and the OnePlus 11R, but it packs in enough to take them on. With its powerful (if slightly older) processor, high RAM variant, high-resolution display, fast charging battery, and very good main camera, the OnePlus Nord 3 is an all-rounder with no major shortcomings (yes, we have reconciled ourselves to the absence of a 3.5 mm audio jack at this price point). The name on the box might say OnePlus Nord 3. The design might scream Nord.

In one word, yes. The OnePlus Nord 3 5G delivers what it promises – a vibrant and faster display, a fluid performance, all day battery life with quick charge support and a camera setup that is adept at its job. Sure, there are some aspects that can use a bit of a fine tuning but nothing that would act as a dealbreaker. Overall, at a price of around 33K, the OnePlus Nord 3 5G is the perfect mid-range smartphone for all your daily needs.

The OnePlus Nord 3 5G is an all-rounded performer, whether you are in photography (50 MP IMX890 + 4K@60fps), have a desire for high-end smooth performance (Dimensity 9000 SoC + 16 GB RAM), or want an impressive multimedia experience (10-bit 120 Hz AMOLED + Dolby stereo speakers). In addition to these, the 80W SuperVOOC Charge fast charging which takes about 15 minutes to charge 60%, plenty of OxygenOS 13 perks, an Alert Slider, an IR Blaster, and more – all add to the overall features of the smartphone. With its highly premium super sleek design, stunning bezel-less display, and flagship-grade specs, and impressive camera, the OnePlus Nord 3 5G sets a new standard in the segment and hits the sweet spot.

The OnePlus Nord 3 delivers flagship-grade power and brings fresh upgrades to the Nord formula to keep it competitive with the rest of the pack. It doesn't have any stand-out elements, but the sum of its parts speaks volumes, and it helps that the phone keeps it pretty classy with its design too. Some photography quirks keep it off the very top spot, but the OnePlus Nord 3 makes for a solid mid-range Android phone for those on a budget.

Despite its drawbacks, the OnePlus Nord 3 shaped up to be a pretty solid smartphone. It’s certainly trying to bump up the midrange series into something more akin to a flagship, and the results certainly show that. Some of those drawbacks could be addressed in a future software update so hopefully, that ends up happening but even without it, it’s still a pretty good smartphone nonetheless.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is a fine mid-ranger with a relatively solid, but not amazing, camera and a battery that you can rely on. It’s not one of the more exciting releases of the year, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s a safe option for users who are looking for something in the lower RM2K range and, depending on what’s the most important aspect for you, it might even be a better choice than some of the competition that cost a bit above the Nord’s price tag.

Ok, let’s conclude this video! Like I said at the beginning, I think the OnePlus Nord 3 has positioned itself quite well by offering balanced specs. The only aspect I find this phone could do better is of course the cameras! But I expect the company to roll out a few updates to optimize it in the coming days. Just like they did with the 11R. But the Nepalese pricing is at a blatantly higher side. After all, the phone costs INR 33,999 in India and it is priced more than doubled here in Nepal at NPR 69,999 for the 8/128GB trim. But other than that, it manages to impress me with everything else. I really like its design, the multimedia experience is superb, and you get a flagship-like user experience with fast performance, nice haptics, and up to Android 16 OS update! So overall, OnePlus Nord 3 is somewhere at the top of my ranking in the best midrange phones for 2023!

At Rs 33,999, the OnePlus Nord 3 5G faces intense competition from many devices. Yet, we firmly believe that the OnePlus Nord 3 5G has got what it takes to go toe-to-toe with any competition. It is a well-designed phone with a vibrant display. The performance will give no one any complaints and the battery life is also strong. The cameras -- ultra-wide one especially -- could have been better but there as well it can compete reasonably well. Go for the OnePlus Nord 3 5G if you are looking for a phone in this segment as this one has almost everything you will need.

If you are a former OnePlus fan who jumped ship due to its Oppo-fication, it’s time to come back. The OnePlus Nord 3 shows that the company hasn’t lost its mojo, and the buggy OxygenOS 12 days when the company was undergoing its controversial transition is now over. OxygenOS 13 is as stable as a rock and it’s hard to dislike the way the skin is put together. Add to that 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates. The pricing is a bit of a pickle, though. On one hand, you have the likes of the Poco F5 and Moto Edge 40, which offer almost but not quite the same experience and performance for a few bucks less (Rs 30,000). And on the other, you have an offering from the same maker – the OnePlus 11R – a near-flagship beast with an arguably catchier design selling for just Rs 5,000 more. Nevertheless, the OnePlus Nord 3 is still a great choice for those who want a balanced phone that does everything well without breaking the bank.

The Nord 3 5G is a mid-premium smartphone packed with premium OnePlus experience. It boasts a modern design, smooth display, capable camera system, smooth performance, and full day battery life. It has the OnePlus essentials, including alert slider and clutter free OxygenOS 13.1 interface (based on Android 13). On top of that, the Nord 3 5G brings features such as an IR blaster for wireless remote function. Together, the Nord 3 5G makes a feature-packed smartphone with something in store for everyone.

To conclude, the OnePlus Nord 3 5G is a complete mid-ranger. The performance is very good, the display is stunning, and surprisingly the camera is right up there with the competition. While the smartphone has a very nice in-hand feel, the way it looks is pretty much similar to the OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G and I am not a big fan of the two flash. Yes, the performance is not the best in this segment, but it will never leave you asking for more with its 16GB RAM. I’m not a fan of the design, especially the two LED flash modules (or whatever the second circle is for), but there are plenty of people who have liked this design. Further, you get glass back and IP rating, so that’s great. The battery sometimes drains while doing specific tasks like GPS or using the camera, but the super fast 80W charging makes up for it.

Overall, OnePlus was able to make a mid-range smartphone that is able to be a decent daily driver. Android users will be able to pick this phone up with ease and not worry about getting overwhelmed by any new features. Though the phone being a fingerprint magnet was a bummer, its display, responsive UI and camera are able to make up for it. Just do watch your battery consumption though.

And that’s everything we have to share with you about the OnePlus Nord 3. It’s an interesting phone nonetheless – a flagship phone from a year ago remade as a mid-range smartphone. The performance is magnificent, the main camera is good, the screen is good, both battery life and charging speed are good, and even the software is objectively better than some of its competitors. However, I truly worry about the price the most. As of the time of recording this video, we do not have the price yet. We prodded OnePlus to share the price but they said it’ll be a surprise. I really do hope they price this phone reasonably because it will show all the other smartphone manufacturers how to make a great phone. You know what, let’s do wish. I wish this phone is priced at RM1,999 even though I know it is quite impossible because of that 16GB RAM. I do think that the 16GB RAM is just unnecessary, honestly. 8GB is plentiful and 12GB is already excessive.

The OnePlus Nord 3 5G is a compelling smartphone, but it faces tough competition from other devices in the segment like the Motorola Edge 40 (review), POCO F5 (review), and iQOO Neo 7 (review). In comparison to the Nord 3 5G, the Motorola Edge 40 offers an excellent design, an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, 15W wireless charging, and a near-stock version of Android. However, it could experience occasional heating and its battery life might not be as impressive. As for the POCO F5, it boasts an impressive battery life but is burdened with bloatware that might impact the user experience. Meanwhile, the iQOO Neo 7 stands out with its support for 120W flash charging, allowing the device to be fully charged from 0 to 100 percent in approximately 27 minutes. However, it lacks an ultra-wide sensor, which might be a deal-breaker for some users.

Finally, we come to the question that everyone wants to know: should you buy the OnePlus Nord 3? After spending about 10 days using the Nord 3, there’s no doubt that it is one of the best smartphones you will find in the price segment right now. With the launch offers, the deal becomes even more tempting. The newly launched OnePlus Nord 3 looks like a solid device with sturdy build quality and a sleek design. It not just looks powerful on paper but also offers great real-life performance. It handles multitasking, extensive gaming and social media browsing really well and the best thing is that the phone never lagged during the review period. The Nord 3 also clicks pretty good photos with a good amount of detail and colours in almost all lighting conditions. The Nord 3 even clicks stunning selfies, which will not need edits before sharing on Instagram.

The OnePlus Nord 3 5G checks almost all the boxes to be a potential contender for the best smartphone under Rs. 40,000 in India, at the moment. It has a bigger and better display than its predecessor, a flagship-grade performance unit and a capable set of cameras. Software experience also is pretty clean and feature-rich. The only downsides that I see are the underwhelming ultra-wide camera and the fact that it only gets a basic IP rating. The slightly affordable Motorola Edge 40 and the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G (Review) offer IP68 and IP67 ratings, respectively. The price of the Nord 3 5G has also gone up by a few thousand rupees compared to the outgoing model. The 16GB RAM variant sits quite close to the OnePlus 11R (Review), which is priced at Rs.

The OnePlus Nord 3 is easy to like - it has an impressive high-resolution display with even more impressively thin bezels and cutout. The flagship-grade hardware is a real treat in this price range, and so is the flagship battery life and charging. And we cannot but appreciate the IP54-rated body, a thoughtful step that gives an extra peace of mind. The camera has been improved since the Nord 2, there is no doubt. The main camera saves great photos and videos, day and night, and so does the ultrawide shooter. Over-processed a bit, sure, but still better than what Nord 2 had to offer. The selfie camera is a bit disappointing, and the macro cam turned out pretty poor. But not having electronic stabilization for the 4K videos is a real crime. That, and the Quad-Bayer selfie sensor. And, being a BBK-made phone, the OnePlus Nord 3 does not offer high frame rate gaming.
