In this construction game, you build bridges, ramps and other structures to guide test vehicles safely to their destination. Bridge Constructor Portal cleverly integrates elements that fans of the highest-rated game on Steam will instantly recognize – and that’s no coincidence.

If you check the SteamDB ranking of top-rated games, Portal 2 holds the top spot with an impressive 99% positive rating from over 400,000 reviews. Fans looking for a fresh take on the Portal universe might find exactly that in Bridge Constructor Portal. This construction sim blends the tried-and-true mechanics of the Bridge Constructor series with the iconic elements of Valve’s Portal world. As a new recruit at the Aperture Science Enrichment Center, your job is to guide test vehicles safely from point A to point B – navigating chasms, acid pits and deadly turrets. You'll build bridges, ramps, seesaws and other structures using limited resources and realistic physics, constantly switching between building, testing, failing and refining.

You'll need to make clever use of classic Portal mechanics like portals, propulsion gels and light bridges to guide the test vehicles safely through 60 challenging test chambers. These tricky logic puzzles demand creativity and precise timing, all delivered with the signature dark humor fans know and love. After all, it’s none other than GLaDOS – the sarcastic AI from Portal, once again voiced by Ellen McLain – who oversees your progress with her trademark biting commentary.

Reviews: Clever puzzle mechanics meet Portal charm – held back by a monotonous backdrop

The German gaming magazine GameStar reviewed Bridge Constructor Portal at launch and praised it as a successful blend of classic bridge-building simulation and the clever puzzle mechanics of the Portal series. According to the review, the original voice of GLaDOS, Ellen McLain, adds plenty of atmosphere, while the humor and distinct Portal vibe are captured brilliantly. Challenging physics puzzles that steadily ramp up in difficulty help keep players engaged. Testers also noted the precise controls, whether using a mouse or gamepad. Charming animations and slapstick moments during failed test runs add to the game’s entertainment value.

Despite plenty of praise, GameStar also pointed out a few drawbacks. The reviewers criticized the repetitive look of the test chambers and a soundtrack lacking variety, comparing it to elevator music. The absence of a fast-forward function can make test runs feel unnecessarily drawn out. Additionally, the game doesn’t offer a real storyline or any strong ties to the main Portal narrative. GameStar gave the construction sim a solid 82 out of 100. On Metacritic, it holds a Metascore of 77 and a user score of 6.4. Since release, around 5,800 Steam players have reviewed the game, with 91% giving it a positive rating.
