Nvidia said to be planning takeover of major PC manufacturer

According to the latest information from SemiAccurate, Nvidia is currently planning a gigantic takeover that could change the entire PC market. The report speaks of the biggest upheaval in the PC market since computers were invented, but details of these plans are scarce. SemiAccurate emphasizes that no final decisions have yet been made, although talks about the takeover have been going on for over a year and are said to be nearing completion.
Even if Nvidia agrees on a takeover, this would first have to be approved by antitrust authorities, which is anything but certain given Nvidia's quasi-monopoly position in many GPU segments. Possible candidates for this takeover would be Dell, HP and Asus. Nvidia currently has a market capitalization of $4.57 trillion. In comparison, the giants of the PC market are almost tiny, as Dell is currently worth $121.7 billion on the stock exchange, HP only $17.17 billion, and Asus $13.55 billion - just 0.3 percent of Nvidia's market value.
Following the publication of SemiAccurate's report, Dell's share price rose by 6 percent and HP's shares increased in price by 4 percent. By acquiring a PC manufacturer, Nvidia could not only increase its own sales, but also take an even more dominant market position and put more pressure on OEM customers by selling desktop PCs, laptops and servers based on its own GPUs, which could be offered at more aggressive prices or simply have availability advantages.
