The developers assure players that nothing will go wrong in this role-playing game – but that might be misleading. If you're curious to see for yourself, you can grab the RPG for free on Steam for a limited time.

Three Sisters is a role-playing game by CFG Studios, featuring a classic retro pixel style and available in Early Access since March 29. The developers describe it as a “silly RPG with cute little (not nightmarish) enemies and a story where nothing bad ever happens.” But that lighthearted promise quickly fades once the first bizarre enemy appears. In Three Sisters, players face off against a host of grotesque foes – from muscular pumpkin men to bearded tacos and deformed fish with an unsettling number of legs sprouting from their bodies.

The game is a spin-off of the Roblox titles New State of Mind and Meat Circus, drawing from five years of interconnected lore. Built in RPG Maker, it dives into the prehistory of those titles, offering a deeper look at the universe behind them. As the name suggests, the story follows three sisters – Vibia, Lucia and Catherine – on a quest to find Lillith in a surreal world filled with strange and eccentric characters. Along the way, they can recruit more than a dozen optional party members, creating room for a wide range of party combinations. The game also features a rich equipment and item system, packed with a variety of weapons, trinkets and quirky collectibles.

One of the standout features of Three Sisters is its soundtrack. CFG Studios has a deep love for music and makes it a point to include as much of it as possible in their games. The world of Three Sisters comes to life through tracks from several artists, including Uber, Garret J., Juampy, Sibermanov and TurtleBox. Their diverse contributions add an extra layer of charm and atmosphere to the game's already unique world.

Very positive reviews

Three Sisters stands out with a style that players often describe as both grotesque and oddly captivating. Its dark, absurd humor sets a distinct tone, giving the game a personality all its own. While it may look like a simple RPG on the surface, the gameplay holds some surprises. Many players find the battle system intense and satisfying, with a progression that feels carefully crafted. That said, the game is not without its controversies. Its crude and sometimes provocative humor isn’t for everyone and as it's still in Early Access, some elements of the gameplay may feel unfinished. There’s also been criticism from players who suspect the use of AI-generated assets in certain enemy designs. Despite these issues, the overall reception has been strongly positive. The Steam community has given the game a 94% approval rating – though that’s based on just 19 reviews so far.

Free of charge on Steam

Three Sisters is normally priced at $5 in Early Access, but players can grab it for free until April 4. According to the developers, the Early Access phase is expected to last one to two years. During this time, the game will continue to grow – not just with new content, but also with an expanded story that will eventually feature multiple endings.
