Steam is currently offering a tempting deal that might interest fans of dark fantasy and intense combat: Soulstice, a classic-style hack-and-slash, is going for just $4 until April 7.

Soulstice doesn’t center on just one heroine but instead follows two protagonists. Players take on the roles of Briar and Lute, sisters bound together as a Chimera. The transformation granted Briar superhuman strength, though it cost Lute her physical form. To save the sacred kingdom of Keida, the sisters face off against nightmarish creatures while exploring a dark fantasy world filled with crumbling cities, eerie cathedrals and ancient ruins.

At the heart of Soulstice lies a fast-paced combat system shaped by tactical decision-making. Players must blend Briar’s melee skills with the magical powers of her ghostly sister Lute to handle a variety of enemy types. The game draws a clear distinction between the ethereal and material realms: Wraiths, for instance, can only be harmed once they’re pulled into the material world using a special aura, while Possessed enemies exist in both planes – making them especially dangerous if not dealt with swiftly. The combat has earned praise from many players and is frequently compared to Devil May Cry for its stylish and satisfying mechanics.

Stylish combat, tricky camera

Soulstice was developed by Reply Game Studios in partnership with publisher Maximum Entertainment and launched in September 2022. At release, the German online magazine 4p.de reviewed the hack-and-slash title, praising its layered combat system and the compelling protagonist duo. However, the game drew criticism for its somewhat repetitive environments and awkward camera angles, which can make it hard to stay in control during fast-paced fights. Despite these flaws, the strengths of the game stood out, earning it a solid 7 out of 10 from 4p.de.

Since its release, nearly 1,400 players have reviewed Soulstice on Steam, with 78% giving it a positive rating. The reception on Metacritic is a bit more reserved, with a Metascore of 68 and a User Score of 6.1. Much of the mixed feedback centers on the camera system, which many find frustrating, especially during intense battles. In response, the developers introduced improvements to the camera controls in December 2022, but the issue remains a common point of criticism.

90% discount on Steam

Soulstice is usually priced around $40 on Steam, but until April 7 it's available at a 90% discount, bringing the price down to just about $4. The Deluxe Edition, which includes the digital artbook, soundtrack and bonus items, is also heavily discounted – currently 82% off for just under $9. According to SteamDB, the game was last offered at this low price during the Steam Spring Sale. Before that, smaller discounts were more common.
