The game has been developed and published by Melting Parrot. Dap is a pixel-art horror adventure that’s a bit hard to pin down. You play as a forest spirit guiding a group of fragile creatures - also called Daps - through a strange and decaying world. Your goal is to protect them, keep them alive, and lead them to safety, but the game doesn’t make it easy. Puzzles, threats, and a creeping infection that corrupts your companions - all of it adds to the tension.
Visually, Dap leans into eerie pixel-art environments that switch between beauty and dread with a few brushstrokes. It’s one of those games where the sound design does a lot of the heavy lifting, and several players on Steam mention how unsettling the atmosphere becomes once things start going south. It doesn’t go for full-on jump scares, but there's this slow-burn horror that sneaks up on you.
Reviews are mostly positive across the board, with a lot of praise for its originality. One user called it “weird but in the best way,” and another mentioned how Dap reminded them of older horror games in how it creates discomfort without relying on modern tropes.
