Nintendo sells Pokémon Legends Z-A and DLC on one Switch 2 cartridge for the holidays

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have announced a physical Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 Edition that puts the game and Mega Dimension DLC on a single cartridge, launching in both North America and Europe on October 29, 2026. The base game costs $69.99, the DLC $29.99, and Nintendo has priced the physical bundle at $99.99 on Amazon, the same as the digital one.

The cartridge is not Switch 2 exclusive, though. It would also work on the OG Switch, but only for the standard content without the Switch 2 hardware graphics and features. On Nintendo Switch 2 the bundle would come with improved performance, resolution, and frame rate out of the box, with no extra downloads or voucher codes needed for the expansion pack.

The cartridge buyers will also get a small bonus, says Nintendo, as a serial code inside the box will unlock 100 Ultra Balls, redeemable through the Mystery Gift feature and only once per save file.

Mega Dimension first arrived on December 10, 2025, with a story that begins when Ansha turns up at Hotel Z with the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa as spatial distortions appear across Lumiose City. The expansion adds new Pokémon and more Mega Evolutions, and some Pokémon in the distorted version of the city can reportedly exceed level 100.

The Pokémon Legends: Z-A offshoot sold 5.8 million units in its first week, with nearly half of those copies activated on Switch 2. A single cartridge with everything on it thus makes sense for the holiday season, especially for anyone who skipped the DLC or never bought the game.

Collectors may want to move early, though, as other such physical bundle efforts, like the Pokémon Sword and Shield cartridges with the DLC included, now fetch much higher prices on the secondary market. Those who already own the game and the expansion pack have little but a collector’s incentive, as the 100 Ultra Balls would be the only real reason to double dip with a physical bundle on a single cartridge.
