News surrounding the release of the Sony WH-1000XM4 is hotting up again. To recap, it has only just emerged that Sony Brazil published a teaser for a mysterious pair of over-ear headphones on an Instagram story. Titled "the future of audio is here", the post contained several clues that the device was, in fact, the WH-1000XM4.
Now, Roland Quandt has weighed in and revealed the price of the upcoming headphones in the EU. According to the respected leaker, Sony will price the WH-1000XM4 at €379.90. While this equates to US$445, it is only €0.90 more than Sony currently charges for the WH-1000XM3 in Germany. By contrast, the WH-1000XM4 is expected to launch for US$349 in the US.
Additionally, Quandt remarked that the headphones "are finally going to be out soon". He has not revealed a date, although The Walkman Blog has offered a possible date of August 6. It is unclear where this date has come from, though. However, a date of August 6 would put the release of the WH-1000XM4 under two weeks ahead of the rumoured launch of the AirPods Studio, Apple's supposed first set of over-ear headphones. This would be a smart move by Sony, although we would not rule anything out with the release of the WH-1000XM4 at this point.
