New affordable action camera takes on GoPro and DJI with Sony sensor, 4K50fps, and Gyroflow at half the price

Action cameras have been a pretty competitive market as of late. DJI and GoPro dominate the space, but they also dominate the price tags. That's precisely the gap XTU looks to be trying to fill with its new S7 Pro. Launched earlier this month, and available now for $159.99 on Amazon US and the official XTU website (£159.99 in the UK), it specifically targets the budget action camera tier.

The S7 Pro runs a 1/2-inch Sony CMOS sensor, smaller than the 1/1.3-inch sensor on the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, which starts at nearly double the price, but larger than what you'd typically find at this price point. It pairs that with a HiSilicon AI ISP, a 152-degree 7-element ultra-wide lens at F2.8, native 48 MP stills, and 4K video at up to 50 fps with HDR support.

Stabilization-wise, the S7 Pro ships with what XTU calls Stabilization 5.0, 360-degree horizon correction, and Gyroflow support for post-processing workflows. At this price tier, most budget action cameras cap out at basic EIS, so Gyroflow support is a key differentiator for riders and cyclists who edit in post.

The dual-screen design — a 2.29-inch rear touchscreen plus a front display — makes it competitive with cameras like the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro on usability. You also get 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6, live streaming, voice control, wireless mic support with AI noise reduction, auto landscape-to-portrait switching, up to 50 seconds of 4K pre-recording, and a magnetic quick-release mount.

However, the camera body isn't natively waterproof (a case is required for underwater use), there's no built-in storage, and it has an 1800 mAh battery compared to the DJI's 1950 mAh cell (rated for up to four hours of recording). It's now purchasable on Amazon US for $159.99.
