New Samsung Galaxy Watch: Four variants of the possible Galaxy Watch Active 3 start revealing their secrets through FCC filings
An upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch has been found in FCC reports by DroidLife, and solid detective work has revealed at least four variants of the new wearable. The model numbers found were SM-R845, SM-R855, SM-R840, and SM-R850. These details fit neatly with last month’s news that Samsung had certified a new smartwatch with the MIIT.
It appears the R840 and R850, which will differ in size, will be the Wi-Fi only variants of the next Samsung Galaxy Watch while the R845 and R855 will be two different-sized versions with LTE connectivity. The FCC files reveal quite a few details about the Galaxy Watch, thanks to images of the rear sides of the smartwatch models. For instance, measurements show that the R840 (41 mm) is bigger than the R850 (45 mm). The same information can be applied to the R845 and the smaller R855.
As for the more technical specs, the new Samsung Galaxy Watch (potentially the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3) offers 5 ATM waterproofing, Gorilla Glass DX protection, a stainless steel case, and it has been tested to MIL-STD-810G standards. There’s also mention of LTE (for the R845 and R855 models), and all four variants have GPS support.
It’s believed the new smartwatch from the Samsung Galaxy range might be launched in August, along with the new Galaxy Note 20 devices. However, an official announcement concerning this possible Galaxy Watch Active 3 smartwatch could be made in the very near future, even within the next few days.
