New Nvidia High-End GPU Available: First Benchmarks of the GeForce RTX 2080 Super
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super available today for 739 Euros ($829)
The RTX 2080 Super is still based on the TU104 chip, which now features 3072 CUDA cores. This means that it has 128 more CUDA cores than the GeForce RTX 2080. Thanks to this, the RTX 2080 Super is about 10% faster, and even the Nvidia Titan Xp cannot keep up with it. Moreover, the RTX 2080 Super also has more RT and Tensor cores, which means that it offers better ray-tracing performance. Nvidia not only improved the graphics processor but also the VRAM. However, what we see here is only a slightly higher frequency. The GPU still packs 8 GB of GDDR6 video memory. The bandwidth increased up to 496.1 GB/s.
With these specifications, the GeForce RTX 2080 Super comes off as a true high-end GPU and is currently Nvidia’s second-fastest consumer-grade graphics card. Only the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is faster. The RTX 2080 Super can run most games from 2018/19 in 4K without any problems. At the moment, AMD does not offer anything that could compete with the RTX 2080 Super in terms of performance. All of AMD’s offerings are playing in a lower league. Only the AMD Radeon VII could barely keep up with an RTX 2080. It cannot keep up with an RTX 2080S at all.
According to Nvidia, the new model consumes 250 watts, which is significantly more than the predecessor. Compared to the Nvidia Titan Xp, the RTX 2080 Super offers significantly better performance per watt, and users should also not forget about DLSS and ray-tracing.

Preliminary Verdict for the RTX 2080S
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super is no more than an RTX 2080 with a facelift. More CUDA cores and higher VRAM speeds together provide a 15% boost in performance. Ray-tracing and AI capabilities have also improved, because the RTX 2080S features more RT and Tensor cores.
The release of the RTX 2080S does not change much in the realm of high-end graphics cards, which is not entirely Nvidia’s fault. AMD simply does not offer any GPUs that can complete with Nvidia’s top-tier video cards. Now you can get the GeForce RTX 2080S for 739 Euros ($829), which is what the RTX 2080 cost when it was released. This is why with the RTX 2080S buyers get more bang for their buck.
Bargain hunters now have an opportunity to snatch an RTX 2080 at a significantly lower price, since it will be leaving store shelves for good.
