New Google smart home display could be in the works

A new Google smart home display could be on the way. This product was hinted at in 2025 by Anish Kattukaran, Google Home’s Chief Product Officer. In an interview with The Verge, they stated that Google was “committed to smart displays” and suggested that a smart display would “present itself as an incredible form factor to interact with something like Gemini for Home”.
Now, X user @aaronp613 has spotted the Google Home Display in the code behind a recent version of the Google Home app for iOS. Two strings in the code mention the Google Home Display, alongside a list of other Google smart home devices like the Google Nest Hub Max. However, no further details about the smart home display appear to have been revealed in the code.
The X post has gained the attention of Kattukaran, who responded with an eyes emoji. Fans on Reddit are speculating as to whether the “Display” part of the name suggests that this could be a wall-mounted device. Historically, the company has released hubs and speakers, which are designed to sit on a tabletop or shelf. It could be that we learn more about the Google Home Display at the Google I/O 2026 event, starting May 19th.
