Casio has officially made the GBX100S-1 and GBX100S-2 G-Lide series watches purchasable in the US, making this first retail appearance in the country. These surf-focused G-Shock models were earlier introduced in Europe on June 7 but had not been listed for sale in the US until now. Both models are now available on Casio’s official US site for $170 each.
These watches are specifically designed for surfers and outdoor athletes, with the toughness of G-Shock and tools tailored for ocean-based activities. The bezel is constructed using a combination of stainless steel and clear resin, which renders a distinct layered design that reflects the light. Meanwhile, the band is made of bio-based urethane.
Both GBX100S models feature a high-contrast Memory In Pixel (MIP) LCD display, which improves visibility under direct sunlight. The tide graph, moon phase data, sunrise/sunset times, and high/low tide info are all displayed clearly, alongside tracking conditions at over 3,300 locations worldwide through the Casio Watches smartphone app.
Bluetooth connectivity allows for auto time updates, phone notifications, and GPS-based data corrections. The watches also include step and distance tracking, pace, training logs, and calorie burn stats, which makes them useful beyond surfing as well. With water resistance rated at 200 meters, four daily alarms, and battery life up to two years, they should be great for demanding use in all weather conditions.
The GBX100S-1 comes with a black band while the GBX100S-2 ships in a navy blue. Both models are now retailing for $170 USD and are available directly through Casio’s official US storefront.
