Anker's Eufy has officially launched the SoloCam E42, after leaks pertaining to the same showed up merely 3 days ago (July 27). The camera is now available as part of a two-camera bundle with the S380 HomeBase 3, priced at $399.99 on Amazon. A four-camera bundle with the same HomeBase is expected to follow soon, listed at $599.99. With the E42, Eufy is focusing more on-device AI and local storage.
The SoloCam E42 captures video in 4K resolution through a lens with a wide f/1.6 aperture, and includes pan-and-tilt functionality for broader coverage. It features a built-in spotlight and strobe lights, two-way audio for communication, and a 103dB siren to ward off intruders. The camera can record continuously if powered via cable and supports solar charging with Eufy’s detachable SolarPlus 2.0 panel, which can supposedly keep the device running year-round with just a couple of hours of sunlight each day.
A key feature of the E42 is its on-board "BionicMind" AI, which enables local facial recognition, vehicle detection, pet detection, and license plate recognition (up to 10 meters). Users can define up to two activity zones for focused monitoring. Video can be stored locally on microSD cards up to 128GB, and when paired with the S380 HomeBase 3, local storage can expand up to 16TB.
The SoloCam E42 supports integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home, though advanced AI and smart notifications require the S380 HomeBase 3 (curr. $149.99 on Amazon). It carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. Both wired and solar-powered options are available. The new system also offers cross-camera tracking and 360-degree protection, using the HomeBase’s AI to splice together events captured from multiple cameras.
Currently, Eufy is only selling the SoloCam E42 as part of bundles with the S380 HomeBase. There are also reports that individual sales of the E42 are planned for the future, but pricing and exact timing are yet to be announced.
