Intel's Comet Lake H platform has been available for months, but in some areas, the newer processors are still not present.
Case in point: The Acer ConceptD 7 (Pro). Until now, the 15.6 inch workstation still used older Coffee Lake processors. This changes now, as Acer updates the mobile workstation with 10th gen Core i CPUs.
Apart from the new CPUs, the Taiwanese manufacturer does not change a lot: The white aluminum chassis with a Gorilla glass touchpad still contains a 15.6 inch 16:9 screen. This IPS LCD has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 (4K-UHD) and it is supposed to cover the entire AdobeRGB color-gamut. Acer also claims to have redesigned the cooling system. The Acer laptop is supposed to stay under 40 dB(a) in terms of fan-noise, while the components are adequately cooled at the same time.
The biggest difference apart from the newer CPUs like the Intel Core i7-10750H: The Acer ConceptD 7 contains the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super instead of the regular GeForce RTX 2080. For the ISV certified variant ConceptD 7 Pro, the Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 remains the fastest option.
Acer ConceptD 7 Pro: pricing & availability
The Acer notebook should be available in the 4th quarter of 2020. It will not be an affordable Acer workstation though, as it will cost at least €3,000 in Europe.
