New 12th Gen Kindle leaks, will come in a beautiful green colorway
Amazon might soon announce a follow-up to the entry-level Kindle launched in 2022. Expected to launch as the 12th-gen Kindle, a new leak has revealed details as well as official images of the new budget E Ink reader.
News of new Kindle e-readers have been in circulation for a while now, and those rumors have been backed by certification listings as well as low to no stock of some models on Amazon. Now, the folks at Good e-Reader have published details of the upcoming Kindle whose launch is reportedly only a few days away.
According to the source, the info about the new entry-level Kindle was published by an unnamed Spanish retailer. According to the listing, the new Kindle will retain the 6-inch size and 300 PPI of the current 11th generation. However, the display is reportedly 25% brighter, has better contrast, and will also have a new system-wide dark mode.
The Kindle will also have smoother page turns but no physical page turn buttons. Other features revealed are 16GB of storage, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi, and USB-C. It will also last up to 8 weeks on a single charge. Sadly, there's no mention of it having support for warm light or being waterproof.
In addition to the specs and features, the listing also includes a photo of the upcoming Kindle in Match Green, one of the two colors it will launch in. The other is Black. From the image, the 12th-gen Kindle doesn't look different from the 11th-gen Kindle. It still has a recessed screen, a pretty thick chin, and a curved back. It measures 10.85 x 15.78 x 0.8 cm and weighs 154 grams. Its dimensions are almost identical to that of the 11th gen but it is a few grams lighter.
The 12th gen Kindle had a list price of €119, but it isn't clear if that's the price with or without ads. The 11th gen model cost $99.99 at launch with ads and $120 without ads. Nevertheless, we should know how much it will cost when it launches on October 1, 2024 according to the source.
