My Hero Ultra Impact shuts down in five days. Bandai Namco Entertainment will close the servers on May 17, 2026 at 10:59 PM ET / 7:59 PM PT, which is May 18 at 11:59 PM JST. Any Hero Gems or items remaining in an account must be used before that deadline. They cannot be carried forward, and no offline version of the game is planned.

My Hero Ultra Impact launched in Japan in May 2021, roughly one week after the final chapters of Kohei Horikoshi's manga brought the main storyline to a close. The game arrived globally in February 2022, offering 3v3 team battles built around character quirks, Plus Ultra moves, and a gacha-driven roster of heroes and villains from the anime. The closure comes almost to the day of the Japanese version's fifth anniversary. Bandai Namco did not explain why the game is ending.

What is still available before the shutdown

In-app purchases have been disabled since March 17, when Bandai Namco first announced the shutdown. Hero Gems acquired before that date are still spendable in-game. As part of the Hirotra Finale campaign, every account receives one free 10x recruit pull each day until servers close. Past event story chapters are also available for the first time, letting players who missed earlier content revisit the full narrative run before it disappears permanently. Bandai Namco indicated it would share refund details for unused currency at a later date but has not yet published the final refund process.

Community reaction since the March announcement has been mixed. Some players described the game as "still doing well" at the time of closure and pushed back on the decision, while others pointed to declining banner revenue in the months before the announcement as a sign the writing had been on the wall. Multiple players on Reddit and official forums called for an offline archive mode, which Bandai Namco has not committed to.

The MHA mobile landscape after Ultra Impact

This is the second My Hero Academia mobile title to close in just over a year. My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero shut down on March 31, 2025 after a run that stretched back to 2021. With both titles now closing, the active mobile presence for the franchise narrows to smaller regional titles.

The broader IP is not slowing down. My Hero Academia: All's Justice, the conclusion to the One's Justice console trilogy, launched on February 6, 2026 and covers the manga's final arc. A European concert tour is also scheduled for September 2026, continuing the franchise's push into live events. The manga itself concluded in late 2024 and remains available through VIZ Media, with the complete anime streaming on Crunchyroll.

My Hero Ultra Impact is free to play on iOS and Android until May 17. For more on the music side of gaming this week, Notebookcheck spoke with Final Fantasy Tactics composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, who revealed the iconic FFT soundtrack is rooted in rock and shared his thoughts on the upcoming Colors of Harmony concert
