Samsung introduced the Expert RAW photography app back in 2021, alongside the Galaxy S21 Ultra flagship device. In the meantime, many other top handsets received full support for the app, including the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Fold 4, as well as the Galaxy S22 lineup. Now, the time has come for some flagships from 2020 to join the list of Expert RAW-supported devices.
At the end of September, support for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and Z Fold 2 started to roll out in South Korea. As usual, the other areas of the world should follow a few days later, so if there is no update for your device yet, you might want to wait a few days.
The updated version currently available on the Galaxy Store marketplace is labeled 1.0.05.4 (2022.09.30) and has 50.62 MB. Compared to the more recent flagships, the 2020-dated ones mentioned above that get Expert RAW support will provide a slightly inferior user experience due to the older processors and camera sensors they use.
In addition to RAW support, this app features professional-grade features such as manual ISO control, EV, metering, shutter speed, and white balance. The histogram tool available in the Expert RAW app is exclusive to it as the Pro mode of the Samsung camera app does not have it. Those thinking about using this app should know that it focuses on manual photography alone, so it lacks features like night shooting, a dedicated portrait mode, or video shooting capabilities.
