Minisforum has only just released the MS-A2 mini workstation with early launch discounts to replace the MS-A1 (curr. $239.99 on Amazon). Nonetheless, the company has shared early information about a new network attached storage (NAS) devices that it will be launching later this season. The Minisforum N5 and N5 Pro should prove to be comparatively powerful mini-PCs too.
So far, Minisforum has confirmed that the N5 and N5 Pro will be available with up to AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU and 96 GB of DDR5 EEC SO-DIMM RAM, or 128 GB "unofficially". Not only that, but a company representative outlined in the video below that a discrete GPU can be added via a PCIe x16 slot (PCIe 4.0 x4) or OCuLink.
Minisforum's latest NAS also features 5 Gbps (RTL8126) and 10 Gbps (AQC113) LAN connections plus five drive slots within a 199 × 202 × 252 mm housing. Meanwhile, dual 92 mm rear fans should only reach around 42 dB even under full load. Moreover, Minisforum remarks that the N5 and N5 Pro will support multiple operating systems like FreeBSD, TruNAS and Unraid, among others.
Full pricing and availability are both unknowns at this stage. With that being said, Minisforum has suggested that the N5 and N5 Pro will be released in June. Providing an email address on the company's website should unlock a 30% coupon before launch day too.
