Aoostar has introduced a new NAS in China, the WTR Max. At the core, it's a bigger and more capable model than the WTR Pro, which was a 4-bay system with up to an Intel N150. The newer option, on the other hand, is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS, which also brings the Radeon 780M iGPU. There's a second configuration available, which comes with the Ryzen 9 8945HS.
For those requiring more GPU power, Aooster says that the WTR Max can be equipped with a Radeon 7600 XT (Gigabyte Gaming OC 7600 XT curr. $347.99 on Amazon). However, it's not clear whether the chassis itself can hold the GPU or whether the company is talking about eGPU support. Another key upgrade of the new NAS is that it's a 7-bay system with support for up to 6 SSDs and 6 HDDs. There's also support for 32 GB of DDR5 dual-channel memory, and it brings four high-speed network ports.
Unlike the WTR Pro, the Max features a built-in display that shows key pieces of information like drive status, CPU temp, and power details. It also appears that the NAS has a decent number of ports, with the front featuring one UBS-A, one USB4, and one SD card slot. For display output, besides the USB4, there's HDMI and DP.
The company has yet to share the pricing and availability details of the Aoostar WTR Max. Worth noting that similarly configured NAS boards, like the 8845HS motherboard from CWWK, go for around $500 in the global market.
