Microsoft's latest OS is designed to run on a wide spectrum of screen sizes and devices, including smartphones. Despite this, the company has yet to officially reveal the long-rumored Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL smartphones. Now, sources appear confident that both smartphones are set for an unveiling this October 19 during a press event in New York City.
While there is currently limited information on the design of the smartphones, existing rumors point to a Snapdragon 808 SoC for the 5.2-inch Lumia 940 and a Snapdragon 810 SoC with 3 GB RAM for the 5.7-inch qHD Lumia 940 XL. The rear cameras on both models are expected to use the same 20 MP sensor.
Outside of the Lumia phones, Microsoft may also take the time to unveil or at least tease the inevitable Surface Pro 4 during the event. Not much is known about the Surface Pro 3 successor, but it's a given that the tablet will at least make use of Intel's Skylake generation of processors.
