Microsoft announces the first Lumia smartphones to receive Windows 10 Mobile
Although many Windows 7 and Windows 8 users already managed to upgrade to Windows 10, Windows Mobile users of Microsoft Lumia handsets have to wait at least a few weeks until they get a chance to taste the version for smartphones of Microsoft's latest operating system. While the Redmond giant unveiled that all Lumia devices that currently use Windows Phone 8.1 Denim will get Windows 10 Mobile, only a smaller list will get the update in the first wave.
Microsoft updated the Mobile Devices page on the company's official website with the following information: "The following Lumia smartphones will receive a free upgrade when available: Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830, and Lumia 930." Unfortunately, the ETA does not get any better than "when available" - at least not for now.
Windows 10 Mobile promises to come with an improved Action Center, the new Microsoft Edge browser, as well as universal apps like Calendar, Maps, and Photos. It also comes with various Office and Outlook enhancements, as well as the ability to use mobile apps on other devices thanks to the new Windows Store.
