Microsoft Surface Studio 2+ arrives with Intel Core i7-11370H and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 combination for US$4,499.99
Microsoft has introduced a new edition of the Surface Studio, four years on from the Surface Studio 2. In line with a late rumour claimed, Microsoft has revealed the Surface Studio 2+, not the Surface Studio 3. As its name suggests, the Surface Studio 2+ is an evolution of the Surface Studio 2, rather than an overhaul as the Surface Pro 8 was from the Surface Pro 7.
Specifically, the Surface Studio 2+ features the same 28-inch PixelSense display, which operates at 4,500 x 3,000 pixels with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 60 Hy refresh rate. Comparing the two specification sheets, the Surface Studio 2+ has the same display dimensions as its predecessor but with a thinner base. The new Surface Studio still tips the scales at over 9 kg, though.
Inside, Microsoft has equipped the Surface Studio 2+ with the Core i7-11370H, the same processor found in last year's Surface Laptop Studio. While the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti has made way for the GeForce RTX 3060, this is a minor upgrade at best. Bizarrely, there is no professional discrete GPU option, not even for the Surface Studio 2+ for business. Moreover, the Surface Studio 2+ comes with 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, 1 TB of storage and the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm headphone jack
- 1x Gigabit Ethernet
- 2x USB 3.1 Type-A
- 3x USB Type-C (USB 4.0/Thunderbolt 4)
The Surface Studio 2+ is orderable now in a sole configuration. At launch, the machine retails for US$4,499.99 and will start shipping on October 25. In comparison, Europe will receive the device in early November but for €5,589.
