MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ officially announced for high-end smartphones and tablets
MediaTek's high-end mid-cycle refresh chip, the Dimensity 9300+, has officially been unveiled. A slew of leaks revealed most of its specs well ahead of time. It is manufactured on TSMC's cutting-edge third-gen 4 nm node (likely N4P) and like pretty much every thing launched in the past few month, heavily focuses on AI. MediaTek claims the Dimensity 9300 Plus' NPU can run LLMs (Large Language Models) with up to 33 billion parameters locally.
Like its predecessor, the Dimensity 9300+ keeps an all-performance-core design with one Cortex-X4 clocked at 3.4 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85 GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0 GHz. It has 18 MB of total cache and new packaging technology. Its memory controller supports LPDDR5X and LPDDR5T memory rated at up to 9,600 Mbps. Lastly, compatible UFS 4.0 storage devices can also leverage MCQ (Multi-Circular Queue) technology, which essentially improves read/write performance.
On the GPU side, the Dimensity 9300+ keeps the same 12-core Arm Immortalis-G720 MP12, complete with hardware-level raytracing support. MediaTek hasn't mentioned its clocks, but a minor spec bump seems likely. It can power smartphone displays up to 4K 120 Hz/ 1440p 180 Hz.On to its Imagiq 990 ISP, video recording is limited to 8K 30 FPS/4K 60 FPS, which is puzzling, given the competition can pull off 8K 60 FPS easily. Still images are restricted to 320 MP.
Wireless connectivity options on the Dimensity 9300+ include Wi-Fi 7, 5G (sub-6 GHz and mmWave), Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, GLONASS, Beiou, Galileo, QZSS and NavIC. MediaTek claims its Xtra Range tech allows devices on the 5 GHz band to reach 4.5 meters further indoors. The Dimensity 9300+ will power the Vivo X100s series, the iQOO Neo9s Pro, iQOO Pad2 Pro, and Redmi K70 Ultra, all of which should be revealed in the coming days.
