The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has been confirmed to launch next month. Considering doubts over the Exynos 2300, the Qualcomm chipset's fiercest rival is expected to be the MediaTek Dimensity 9200, and that chipset looks set to beat the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to the punch, launch-wise.
According to Digital Chat Station, the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 will launch in November but before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Likely, that means an early November launch event for the MediaTek SoC, with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to land in mid-November. This is also the first time the leaker has referred to the Dimensity 9000's successor as the "Dimensity 9200", so there's a chance the chipset gets branded as that.
Details of the Dimensity 9200 remain elusive. Going by word on the grapevine and a recent leak of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the Cortex-X3 core on the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 will likely push the envelope in terms of clock speeds. It should match the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in CPU performance at least, although it'll be interesting to see how its GPU fairs against Qualcomm's upcoming Adreno 740.
