The legendary hardware brand returns under Chinese management and with reimagined product lines that will be showcased at CES 2018.

Mad Catz is known for the innovative game controllers for PC and consoles, be them mice, keyboards, gamepads or fighting sticks. The company unfortunately went through a rough period in the latest years and had to file for bankruptcy in early 2017. Apparently, that was not the end of the company, as Mad Catz is now restarting its business with a few notable changes. Formerly based in San Diego, USA, the resurrected Mad Catz has its headquarters and management team in Hong Kong now. According to CNET the reason behind the location change is probably related to the Chinese factories that used to make all the company’s products, which corroborated their efforts to reinstate the bankrupt company.

The official return message states that Mad Catz will launch a brand new lineup of gaming peripherals, including R.A.T. mice, S.T.R.I.K.E. keyboards, F.R.E.Q. gaming headsets and G.L.I.D.E. gaming surfaces. Loyal fans of the company will be quick to notice that there is no mention of the renowned fighting sticks in the new product lineup. Hopefully, this type of peripherals was not completely abandoned by the restructured Mad Catz, and new models would be announced at a later date.

Mad Catz also provide a few details on the new products that will be showcased at CES 2018. The R.A.T. AIR mouse is “an-all new version of the iconic, fully-adjustable gaming mouse, now with a state-of-the-art wireless power system. The R.A.T. AIR requires no unreliable battery pack to operate, instead drawing power via the wireless activation gaming surface, included in pack. For gamers preferring to use their own gaming surface, the R.A.T.AIR also includes a robust USB cable in pack, instantly converting the R.A.T. to a wired mouse.” On the other hand, the S.T.R.I.K.E. gaming keyboard “features a fully mechanical key bed, aluminum frame and RGB lighting.” As for the F.R.E.Q.4 gaming headset, it “utilizes high-quality 40mm neodymium drivers and a metal plated frame.”

To hype up the return of the company, there is even a short video that shows off some of the new products.
