If you're on the lookout for a cheap MacBook, but are okay with last-gen hardware, Amazon has an outstanding deal for you. The M2 Apple MacBook Air has dropped to just $799 on the platform. While it isn't the cheapest the laptop has ever been, CamelCamelCamel's price tracker confirms it is a little over $100 cheaper than its regular asking price.
Additionally, this MacBook Air variant comes with 16 GB of RAM, the bare minimum needed to run Apple Intelligence properly. It is accompanied by 256 GB of storage. That isn't ideal, but you always have the option to offload the data to external media or cloud-based solutions. All things considered, the stellar battery life and compact form factor is an acceptable trade-off for fewer gigabytes of storage.
While the Apple M2 is a two-generation-old chip, it will function well as a daily driver with light workloads. Unfortunately, you'll miss out on some quality-of-life features such as Thunderbolt 4.0 and Wi-Fi 6. Additionally, our in-depth review of this 256 GB SKU determined the SSD was a tad slower than its 512 GB counterpart. But, this comes with a MagSafe charger out of the box, freeing up the USB-C ports for other peripherals.
