Despite being relatively new, the Apple M4 powered Mac Mini got a discount on Amazon recently. But, that was for a higher end variant with 24 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. A new promotion knocks $100 off the base version with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, bringing its asking price down from $599 to $499.
$499 is an absolute steal for the new Mac Mini. While the non-expandable 16 GB RAM and 256 GB storage might seem restrictive, the Apple M4 will ensure it stays relevant for years. Plus, there are two USB-C and three Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, so you can always add more storage via external drives. Other I/O includes a HDMI port and an RJ-45 Ethernet jack.
Companies like Satechi and Orico have already started developing novel solutions for the new Mac Mini that add USB-A ports, an SD card reader and even an M.2 NVMe SSD slot. While third-party solutions are less than ideal and not as reliable ones made by Apple, they'll help transform your M4 Mac Mini into a proper desktop replacement.
